Company description

From outfitting palatial homes with extraordinary, hand-knotted Persian rugs to decorating today’s homes with quality, affordable designer carpets made in their Canadian factory, KORHANI home is a company rich in history.

The KORHANI home story began in 1902 in Iran, where a small side business was born selling hand-knotted Persian rugs by a real estate mogul. The company did not truly flourish, however, until the business was handed over to the second generation. A true pioneer of the family business, Mr. Korhani developed a deep passion for the product at an early age. He was captivated not just by the beauty of the product, but also the lifecycle. The product had to go through dozens of hands before it ever ended up with the customer and positively affected the lives of so many by providing a living.

Mr. Korhani’s passion led him on the journey of building the brand towards what it is today. His fascination with the artistry and workmanship of Persian rugs and keen business sense for export helped him transform the company from a side hobby into a very successful business, travelling far and wide to sell palatial rugs and antiques.

In 1969, his fascination with export and the desire to expand beyond the borders of Iran brought him to Europe, where he laid the foundation of the company’s new headquarters. There, he continued to grow the business, and instilled this same passion for rugs in his children. In the 1980’s, Mr. Korhani’s sons brought the business to Canada, setting up an office in Montreal where they imported their hand-knotted Persian rugs.

When consumer demands started to change in the 1980s, KORHANI home began their transition towards the fast fashion model, leaving their days of selling Persian hand-knotted rugs behind, and moving towards machine-made fashionable designs at affordable prices.

Today, the company is headquartered in Toronto, Ontario with a manufacturing facility in Sorel-Tracy, Quebec and is run by the third generation of the family.

Today, KORHANI home is driven by their endless creativity to build a lifestyle brand that creates products that are not only beautiful, but affordable. KORHANI home offers a full lifestyle product selection to complement their area rugs.

KORHANI home is at the forefront of product innovation. The brand releases new seasonal collections twice a year based on three trend-setting themes, and every season new product innovations are added to these unique collections. Innovation can also be seen in their exclusive merchandising designs, such as their Rug In a BoxTM solution, which makes carrying and storing large size rugs much easier for the customer and provides a unique shipping and merchandising solution for the retailer.

KORHANI home aims to personally stylize your home with the changing seasons – just like your wardrobe. So in 2010, KORHANI home took to the runways of World MasterCard Fashion Week Toronto and Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Berlin to showcase their home collections. Building on this worldwide success and wanting to reach and connect with a larger audience, the label joined IDS in 2014 to showcase its best designs in an innovative interactive exhibition under the KORHANI home “Exhibit KORHANI” brand.

For over a century, KORHANI home has established themselves as an industry leader and innovator. From humble beginnings as a family business in Persian hand-knotted rugs; today, KORHANI home has evolved to include North American made, stylish and affordable home fashion products. Focused on creating style and fashion for home through socially responsible practices and innovation, KORHANI home continues to build the company’s success on its core values that guide the brand and its employees every day.
