Company description
|
The Company designs, manufactures and distributes a full range of leading edge test equipment used in the verification of backplanes, connectors, electrical wiring, cabling systems, and complex interconnection products. CableTest equipment is capable of providing both low voltage and high voltage tests. Low voltage tests ensure the static reliability of the wiring harness, whereas a high voltage (HIPOT) test checks the long-term reliability by testing for leakage and breakdown.
CableTest's Sales Engineers have extensive expertise in the Test and Measurement field, and are available to discuss specific applications, custom tailored to solve even the most complex problems. The Company currently offers two standard wiring analyzers. The wiring analyzers are microprocessor-based and contain an easy-to-use interface, software algorithms and communication software. To support each unique wire harness, CableTest develops a customized cable interface module. The Company products are used in a multitude of diverse applications, ranging from simple wire harnesses, to testing the entire functional operation of space shuttle booster rocket. The company’s customers include: AFC, Alstom, Amphenol, Belden, Boeing, Bombardier, GE, Hamilton Sundstrand, Honeywell, Lockheed Martin, Molex and Smiths Aerospace. |

Product: CableTest MPT-1000 Multi-point TesterApplication: Chassis level testing
Industry: Aerospace
Customer: Global manufacturer of military and commercial avionic equipment for the C-17 Globemaster cargo plane, the Airbus A380, the world’s largest passenger airliner, and the F-35 Joint Strike Fighter.
Challenge: The stringent continuity, isolation, and HiPot test procedures involved can exceed over 3,000 test points per board. In addition, the customer required a test bed that combined flexibility, ease of use and expandibility.
Solution: After a thorough review, the customer chose the CableTest MPT-1000 Multipoint Tester. The MPT-1000 met their capacity needs and offered a number of advantages over the other products evaluated. High on that list were its programming flexibility and hardware options. The hardware options include a wide range of multiplexing cards that allow for concurrent testing. The customer can test 12 boards at a time, 36, or 200 giving them a lot of flexibility. It is possible to use both high and low voltage switch cards in the same backplane rack. That means less equipment to maintain, lower initial and maintenance costs, and a smaller footprint on the production floor.
Benefits: The CableTest MPT-1000 provides the customer with the expandability, flexibility and diagnostics they need to provide fault-free motherboards for these demanding applications. Extensive testing conducted during production pays off quickly. A faulty motherboard can cause damage to the complex and expensive modules that plug into it. Avoiding the cost of just three or four damaged modules more than pays for the cost of the tester. Proper board testing also cuts time it takes to test the final system.
