| Nom du service : |
INGÉNIEUR-CONSEIL - PÉTROLE ET GAZ NATUREL-OLEODUCS |
C-CORE conducts extensive research into issues related to
pipeline operating in harsh terrestrial and marine environments. C-CORE has consulted on the design and routing of numerous pipelines and have conducted engineering studies to improve design methodologies and construction techniques. |
| Nom du service : |
INGÉNIEUR-CONSEIL - TRANSPORTS-PONTS |
C-CORE conducted a series of reduced scale physical centrifuge
model test of selected marine piers in connection with the Confederation Bridge connecting Prince Edward Island to New Brunswick. Foundation failure mechanisms were examined, and how these failure mechanisms varied with changes in loading. |
| Nom du service : |
Geotechnical Engineering |
C-CORE's geotechnical expertise encompasses centrifuge
modelling, full-scale modelling, pipeline testing, ice/seabed interaction, soil/structure interaction, and risk and numerical analysis. C-CORE has considerable expertise in investigating gravity dependent phenomena using reduced scale physical modelling in its centrifuge facility. C-CORE applies its geotechnical centrifuge testing to offshore structures, including offshore production platforms, pipelines, breakwaters and wharves; and onshore structures such as dams, pipelines, landfills, mines, and large buildings. |

| Nom du service : |
Ice Engineering |
Ice engineering activities at C-CORE focus on four areas: ice
management and detection, ice risk, ice conditions, and ice technologies. Ice management provides services to industry and government agencies operating in marine environments where ice or icebergs pose serious threats to their operations. Ice risk examines the uncertainty associated with marine structures, seabed installations, and pipelines in ice infested waters. C-CORE also monitors ice conditions such as pack ice, icebergs, and atmospheric ice. Ice technologies developed at C-CORE have included detection and monitoring capabilities, and ice mitigating systems. Ice engineers at C-CORE have a broad command of many areas including risk analysis; finite element and numerical analysis; field studies; ice laboratory testing; civil, structural, mechanical engineering, and naval architecture. This expertise is used to assist in the design and operation of a variety installations in ice environments. |
| Nom du service : |
Intelligent Systems |
Since 1994, C-CORE has been developing a range of intelligent
system technologies to improve the industrial competitiveness of its partners. These technologies include advanced machine vision and adaptive pattern recognition systems, industrial automation systems, intelligent sensor and control systems, and innovative robotic and telerobotic systems. C-CORE has a telerobotics and computer vision laboratory which provides for the development and validation of proof-of-concept systems for industrial clients. |
| Nom du service : |
Remote Sensing |
Throughout its history, C-CORE has had an applied research group
dedicated to the advancement of satellite remote sensing and radar technologies. The broad base of activities throughout C-CORE has generated expertise in: earth observation remote sensing [Synthetic Aperture Radar(SAR), optical satellite]; high frequency surface wave radar (HF-SWR); ultra high frequency radar (UHF); ionosphere monitoring; and analysis of underwater optical sensing. Satellite Earth Observation (EO) expertise within C-CORE is levered by resident expertise in: machine vision for adaptive processing of SAR images; and geotechnical, geophysical, and ice engineering for the physical interpretation and characterization of EO data. |

| Nom du service : |
Underwater Technology |
C-CORE is working to integrate sensor suites into a full service
underwater inspection vehicle. The autonomous underwater vehicle (AUV) will execute any number of prescribed missions. C-CORE is actively involved in acoustic and optical subsea instrumentation and perception. Acoustic activities include source localization in multipath environments, development and commercialization of an acoustic "chirp" profiler, innovative techniques for seismic-acoustic data processing and analysis, and classification of fish species and quantity from echo sounding data. AQUALERT attaches to fishing gear and emits a consistent, loud acoustic warning signal which emanates in all directions at 3 second intervals. The signal is well within the audible frequency range of marine mammals and allows them to detect fishing gear at ranges of one kilometre or more. HI-DAPT II SUB-BOTTOM PROFILING SYSTEM is a complete subbottom profiling system incorporating the latest in DSP technology. The MICRO-WIP (MICROprocessor-controlled Waterborne Induced Polarization) Marine Electrical Survey System is an automated system for carrying out resistivity and Induced Polarization (IP) surveys in lakes and rivers, and in the shallow offshore. |
