DataGlider uses portal technology to improve the way information
is viewed and updated and provides clinicians, clerks and
executives with multiple ‘Points of View’ (POV) of consolidated
information, seamlessly assembled from multiple systems and
presented on a web browser, with drill through capability.

DataGlider’s portal solution provides a single point of
interaction to all clinical and business systems, both internal
and external. This enables users to interact with different
systems through a common web interface, anywhere, at any time.
DataGlider presents information in a more useful and meaningful
way that improves patient care, increases efficiency, provides
better decision support and drives down costs.
One of the unique features of DataGlider’s Portal technology is
the ability to create different POV’s for different users and
needs. For example, a ‘Physician’s Point of View’, might include
his list of patients, recent clinical results, a list of
incomplete records, links to external medical sources, and a
fast search capability. With a click of a mouse, the Physician
could switch to a ‘Patient Point of View’, which displays a
single view of consolidated information on a specific patient
(e.g. lab results, charts, pharmacy, radiology and
documentation. Similar customized views can be created for
nurses, executives, clerks and patients.

DataGlider uses Portlets (the small windows in the portal) to
simultaneously present multiple data to users. Portlets can be
customized to deliver the specific information the user needs
and can be linked, so a change in one changes other related
portlets.
Portlets are the ‘windows’ of information that make up a portal
page.

Integrated Data from back-end systems can be consolidated into a
single Portal view of information that is customizable for each
individual user.

Portlets can be Reused enabling hospitals to build once – and
use many times. For example, a portlet that might be required in
a Physician View (e.g. lab results, vitals, etc) can be made
available in a Nurses View.

Highly Flexible and Customizable solutions can be created for
each user community, depending on their unique needs.
Hospital Needs

1. Modernizing Legacy Applications: Hospitals have invested
in clinical and operational systems that are running critical
applications and would like to extend their effectiveness by
utilizing new web and wireless technologies to interact with the
data.
2. Physicians, nurses and administrators want simpler, more
intuitive, user friendly and more efficient interfaces to their
clinical and business data.
3. Immediate Answers to Immediate Questions: In order to
provide better patient care and deliver higher levels of
service, hospitals need real-time information available any time
from anywhere.
4. Decisions Based on More Complete Information: Clinicians
and administrators want to make more knowledgeable decisions
based on all the information available, from all sources and
from all locations.
5. Reducing Operational Costs: Finding more efficient and
effective ways to interact with back-end systems reduces costs
and directly impacts the bottom line.
6. Faster Response by IT to End-User Requests: Hospital IT
staff would like to be more responsive to end-user requests for
information and improve the way information is accessed and
presented to users.
DataGlider – The Solution

Multiple Points of View: Information is customizable and many
different points of view can be created depending on the
specific needs of the user and his workflow. For example,
Physicians can see consolidated views of patient data without
having to drill in and out of each module.

Moving Hospitals from Legacy to Web-Based Systems: DataGlider
provides a solid migration path for moving healthcare providers
to web-based technologies. DataGlider can implement web-based
solutions that provide clinicians, clerks and executives with
real-time system interaction from a web browser or wireless
device, thereby extending existing system functionality.

Leverages Existing Systems: DataGlider employs a high level of
data abstraction that can seamlessly link clinical, financial
and other internal and external systems into a single
environment.

Flexibility and Extendibility: DataGlider’s powerful Java/XML
solution utilizes pre-built components, similar to Lego, which
enable DataGlider to implement portal solutions more effectively
and with greater flexibility than compared to ‘hard-coded’
approaches. The system can be extended to include external
systems (both within and outside the hospital) that can enhance
the view of information for the user.
