Protowerx Design Inc. provides electronics and hardware design and redesign using current technologies and programming tools. We are a rapid prototyping shop using a Zcorp 3D printer to produce 3D models; architectural displays, industrial representations and Zcast; direct pour nonferrous metal casting moulds. We also offer CNC milling using a Roland MDX650 for 4axis milling. This method of RP is attractive because the client can get and parts in a wider range of materials, such as wax, wood plastic, foam and metal. PRotowerx also offer a 3D scanning service that is mobile; giving the client the ability to schedule and aquire 3D images of parts that may be too large to move. This service is ideal for reverse engineering and archiving.

3D parts are produced with the use of 3D design software and 3D printing. This process makes creating models and parts time effecient and easy to modify. 3D models and prototypes are ideal for presentation models, functional testing, architectural design, fit and form testing, detection of flaws in designs and client evaluations. The 3D printing is also ideal for producing low cost metal casting molds for non ferrous castings. This is done using Zcast; a special ceramic/sand mixture that is "built" layer by layer. Zcast mold printing cuts down the time from design to pouring significantly.

We use current tools and close client contact to produce working prototypes from your concept. We develop the firmware, software and board layout; reducing the delays caused by farming out design. Protowerx provides technology support and upgrading services as well.

We use a Roland MDX650 mill to produce accurate 3D parts. Using the rotary axis; parts can be milled in true 4 axis fashion for no off-set. Milling can be done on a variety of materials including wax, plastics, wood and metal. This method of RP is ideal for a variety of uses; Lost wax casting, fit and form testing parts with high strength requirements, art design, machining specialty metal and wood parts, and mold making. Printed 3D parts have been used to test fit and form as well as aesthetics in the design of new desiel engine parts.

3D printed parts have been used successfully to market new designs for enclosures. The part is printed, infiltrated with a special epoxy, painted to look like a real plastic part and shown at trade shows and to clients and vendors alike.
