Description de l'entreprise

Lang Motors Ltd. is a progressive thinking, environmentally friendly,
Canadian business venture dedicated to the promotion and sales of the new zero-emission vehicles (ZEV). This will include a variety of ZEV and Neighborhood Electric Vehicles (NEV).

Our main objective is to attain and maintain a position as the primary
source of ZEV, first in Vancouver, then across Canada. Lang Motors
intends to increase the use of ZEV in all areas of vehicular
transportation, from moving people to moving goods.

Our marketing strategy is to adopt innovative techniques with the
focus on youth, government, and business. We have a natural advantage of being the innovators, but another obvious campaign would be to target the green or environmental community. We see a real opportunity in developing a campaign to move mainstream where we will uses terms around style and class, and show that our customers are smart, popular, energetic, responsible, and generally - "with it."

We create and promote 9 "Electric Avenues" zero-emission vehicle (ZEV) Dealerships located across Canada: Vancouver, Calgary, Edmonton, Winnipeg, Toronto, Ottawa, Montreal, Quebec City, and Halifax. This opens up the door for other potential "Electric" cities in Canada to uniquely position themselves as regional leaders in an aspect of sustainable transportation. Canada currently does not have a dealership dedicated to ZEV. Lang Motors Ltd. aims to fill this void.

"We Will Thank Denis Someday - Denis Lang has been relentless in his quest to bring the electric car to Canada. I have witnessed the heartaches and frustration that he has endured in the past few years, and yet he persists because he believes in his goal. One day, all British Columbians will thank him for that." - Francis Mak, Supervisor, Translink (Metro Vancouver, BC transportation authority)

Mr. Ian Clifford
Chief Executive Officer
Feel Good Cars
200 - 277 Richmond St. West
Toronto, Ontario, M5V 1X1

Dear Mr. Clifford:

In late October, I had an opportunity to meet with Mr. Denis Lang who appears to be very knowledgeable about the world of zero-emission electric vehicles. While I understand that Mr. Lang is not directly associated with your corporate entity at the moment, he nevertheless took the opportunity to tell me about your company which, I must admit, I was unaware of before my discussion with Denis. Because of my Quebec connection (I work for a small commercial office of the Quebec Government based in Vancouver, B.C.), I was particularly interested to learn that, while your head office is located in Ontario, the ZENN vehicles are currently maufactured in
St-Jerôme, Quebec.

In this respect, it is obvious that the future success of your company will undoubtedly have positive repercussions in Quebec as well and, as such, I wanted to let you know that, if we can help, it would be my pleasure to assist you in pursuing your market penetration plan for western Canada.

Mr. Lang pointed out that B.C. is currently the only Canadian province where these types of vehicles are allowed to be driven on the road and therefore, I am assuming that an important part of your development strategy will be to seek better transportation policies in various provincial jurisdictions. Hopefully, we can assist you in achieving this goal.

My meeting with Mr. Lang was very insightful and it is hard not to share his devotion, belief and enthusiasm when it comes to the future of this innovative technology and derived products. Frankly, he comes across as a visionary for the market trends associated with electric-powered vehicles and, regardless of his current business alliances, certainly acts as an ambassador for the technology!

I am encouraged to learn that environmentally friendly solutions are being developed right here in Canada and I want to commend you for your business implication in this area. I certainly wish you success in this venture.

Regards,

Andre Gour
Commercial Officer

Dear ___________,

I write concerning the lack of electric mobility in Vancouver, BC, and across Canada.

The urgent need for more energy efficient and non-polluting
transportation demands new approaches and creativity.

Currently, the federal Ministry of Transportation will not allow
electric cars on our roads. I strongly urge you, as ______________, to take the initiative to correct the situation, so that we can have electric cars approved in Canada, similar to the way the Federal and local governments have done throughout the United States.

With the debate about climate change over, we now need to focus on innovative and sustainable transportation options.

I recently met with Denis Lang, of Lang Motors in Vancouver. Mr. Lang is trying to establish nine electric car dealerships across Canada. We need a change in federal legislation to make this possible so these and similar sustainable vehicles can operate in our communities.

As the congestion in our cities grows, we need to encourage the widest possible range of transportation innovations. The economic development opportunities for Canada are huge if we support and invest in sustainable transportation initiatives.

I look forward to hearing from you on what actions you are taking to get sustainable, electric vehicles onto Canadian roads.

Sincerely,

Gregor Robertson, MLA

The Electric Car Is Coming To Our Cities
Lang Motors wants to help drivers make healthy commute choices.

By planner and former MLA Art Cowie

In mid April just as I was working out parking details for my fee-simple rowhouse project on Cambie Street in Vancouver, Denis Lang called me for a coffee. Denis is the owner of Lang Motors in Vancouver and he is trying to establish nine electric car dealerships across Canada. His Website is http://www.langmotors.ca/. He is having major regulatory problems with the Federal Ministry of Transportation which won't allow electric cars on our roads. It is time the Ministry re-looked at this issue, if not because we need more energy efficient and non-polluting transportation, but because global warming and "peak oil" demand new approaches and creativity.

While some people are focused on hopes for new electric car technology, others realize we can also make a difference right now with a change in perspective and priorities. Most States in the United States have legislation allowing Neighborhood Electric Vehicles on roads. However, State legislators left it to municipalities to designate specific roads.

Progressive communities have enacted local ordinances to improve access for electric vehicles on their streets. Here are some recent developments reported in the press:

Belmar, N.J. - Plans to have neighborhood electric vehicles at its boat docks and train station by summer 2007 that people arriving could rent and use to get around town.
Lincoln, CA. - Is working on creating special lanes on existing roads that have speed limits above 35 mph for the use of neighborhood electric vehicles.
Foster City, CA. - City Council voted to explore lowering the speed limits on two stretches of road. The goal is to encourage residents to use the neighborhood, environmentally friendly electric vehicles for their daily transportation.
The first car dealership to exclusively sell electric cars in Davis, California opened its doors on April 9, 2007.
The first car dealership to exclusively sell electric cars in Aspen, Colorado opened its doors on April 16, 2007.
In Wisconsin, electric car owners are closer to being able to freely drive their vehicles around greater Green Bay. Bellevue joined Allouez, Ashwaubenon, Green Bay and De Pere in approving the environmentally friendly neighborhood electric vehicles.
Stoughton, WI - Could soon be the third Dane County community to allow "neighborhood electric vehicles," or NEVs, to silently motor on city streets that have speed limits of 35 miles per hour or less. Dane County got involved in the local ordinance because several of Stoughton's streets are county trunk highways. The agreement still needs to be OK'd by the City Council and the County Board.
Sun Prairie passed an ordinance to allow for NEVs in November, and Mount Horeb was the first municipality in Dane County to OK the environmental friendly vehicles.
Seeking to invest in environmentally-friendly technologies, a trust fund based in Atlanta, Georgia has placed an initial order for 40 electric cars and trucks.
Electric cars are legal in Utah and a new dealership in Salt Lake City is now open to take advantage of that.
Neighborhood electric vehicles are legal in Washington and Oregon with retail locations in Seattle, Spokane and Portland.
France's Postal Service plans to convert most of its 48,000-vehicle fleet to environment friendly electric vehicles to reduce pollution. Not only did the vans work well and prove cheaper to operate than gasoline-powered ones, but the mailmen who drove them apparently reported higher job satisfaction. Now, La Poste is working on a five-year plan to replace the bulk of its vehicle fleet with electric cars. "The car works great, with almost no maintenance," says Patrick Widloecher, La Poste's director for environmental affairs. "We're ready to order more."
The City of Baltimore purchased more then 200 neighborhood electric vehicles for use by city employees. The 200 NEV arrived February 22, 2007 at the Port of Baltimore.
Electric vehicles have been in use for a number of years in San Diego and have gained popularity for short distance residential travel. There are currently 27 electric charging stations in the San Diego region. A tax deduction of up to $100,000 per location is available for a qualified electric vehicle recharging property used in a trade or business.

The Canadian made Maya-EV electric vehicle is legal in Canada but in prototype stage. Lang Motors was invited by Electrovaya to send a proposal to bring the Maya-EV into production.

Comment
Things are certainly getting heated up in the world of Electric Vehicles! It appears that some States have legislation on the books to change the neighborhood electric vehicles (NEV) speed restrictions.

There is no mechanical reason that prohibits NEVs from going more then 25 mph. It's always been interesting that motorcycles (which have no protective enclosure) can operate on any road and are relegated to the same speed restrictions as automobiles which have extensive (and regulated) safety features.

It's also interesting that in both cases speed laws are set by government but the onus to operate the vehicle safely and within the speed limit is not set by the manufacturer before the vehicle leaves the factory, but is up to the vehicle operator. Why then would the operator of an NEV not be held to the same level of responsibility?

This issue needs to be considered by our Provincial Government and local city Councils. Several reasons why they should pay attention and act:

we need to wean people off their current heavy and over-built vehicles designed for highway conditions that most of us don't need, most of the time; electrics will arguably contribute less to global warming than gas guzzlers; we need a new type of vehicle better suited to the congestion of our cities and the need to accommodate more people and their vehicles, following the lead of the Smart car and its tiny predecessors; and we need to demonstrate to the eco-fascists that an incremental approach is better than their wish to eliminate SUVs and other climate change producers.

And, whatever the merits of the electric car per se, government should be encouraging the widest possible range of transportation innovations that might, just might, rescue us from "peak oil," climate change, and mega-congestion, as our cities continue to strangle themselves with more and more traditional vehicles.

Clearly, more research needs to be done on the climate change implications of any new transportation system. But so too is there a need to test new technologies out in a practical way that allows the broader, behavioral implications to be examined and judged. Thus we need many experiments underway to try out new forms in our cities and communities, always with the proper monitoring and evaluation systems in place.

Thanks to Denis Lang for his research and energy in bringing attention to electric cars in Canada. Hopefully I can soon have one parked in our garage for use around the city and short commutes. This is one more way of making Vancouver more sustainable.
