In today’s business climate, the measure of success is a company’s ability to manage information both internally and externally. IT departments are often ingrained in strategic processes, procedures and protocols that are outdated to their current business requirements. Thus lag in IT synchronicity with your company’s true business needs is costing you money and reducing your efficiency in the marketplace. An IT Audit is an evaluation of an organization’s information technology (IT) related configurations, processes, procedures and policies. Where a financial audit’s purpose is to evaluate whether an organization is adhering to standard accounting practices, an IT Audit similarly evaluates an organizations IT environment with technical insights. This includes but is not limited to efficiency, security protocols and development processes. The goal is to evaluate the ability of the business or organization to protect its information assets, and in assessing controls in order to reduce or mitigate risks.
