Technology profile
Rotating Flow DivertersSTRATA Energy Services Inc. is proud to offer a complete line of Rotating Flow Diverters for all drilling applications. The RFD Series allows for a safe and economical means of well control in various drilling applications with pressures up to 5000 psi.
Complimenting the rig's traditional BOP stack, the STRATA RFD systems form a positive seal on the drill pipe or kelly and safely divert the flow from the annulus away from the rig floor.
The STRATA head consists of the main body, which comes with varying flange sizes to allow for easy rig up to the annular BOP. The bearing assembly houses the bearings and the main sealing element. The bearing assembly is held in the main housing by the clamp assembly and is easily removed for quick repair or replacement with the STRATA snubbing adaptor for snubbing operations.
The housing assembly of the STRATA Rotating Flow Diverter is designed with a large diameter bore to accept the Bottom Hole Assembly (BHA) and large drill bits.
Pressure Controlled Drilling
STRATA Energy Services Inc. focuses on drilling optimization and has expanded to meet a need for Pressure Controlled Drilling (PCD). Many clients have identified target formations where economics of conventional drilling are not favourable. Factors affecting these economics may be one or more of the following:
Over pressured formations
Lost circulation zones
Well control issues
Reduced rate of penetration (ROP)
Multiple formations requiring complex mud systems
STRATA's PCD Program offers a safe and economical means of drilling without the high costs often associated with traditional UBD operations while offering the safety benefits of a closed loop drilling system.
Specialized Equipment
Where the benefits of UBD are not applicable or economically feasible and the economics to drill conventionally become unrealistic due to low ROP or mud loss, we have looked at ways of reducing drilling time to make the well more economic.
STRATA's new "fit for purpose" Drilling Recovery Kits offer the same safety and operational advantages of traditional UB packages on the market. However, the configuration of the STRATA PCD Recovery System has greatly reduced the number of loads, which means less mobilization costs and reduced rig up time, without compromising safety.
When combined with STRATA's other complimentary products, such as the Rotating Flow Diverter (RFD), we are also able to offer true integration thus reducing the number of people on location.
The STRATA PCD Program will add safety and save time where hole conditions may not have allowed on past projects.
STRATA has spent considerable time addressing the potential limitations and hazards of PCD.
Once the candidate well has been identified the economics of drilling conventionally will be cross-referenced with our PCD modeling team. Such things as mud costs, ROP, and logistics will be reviewed, as well as, a thorough review of current well design to address any areas of interest or concern.
A feasibility study will be preformed with the clients drilling team to ensure a "fit for purpose" solution. During this process, the new drilling program will be formulated for review and any concerns will be addressed.
