Neegan Naynowan Stantec (NNS) LP

Neegan Naynowan Stantec LP is a joint venture Ontario Corporation operating as a Limited partnership NNS LP. NNS LP is an aboriginal majority-owned firm with 51% held by Attawapiskat Development Corporation (ADC) and 49% held by Stantec with the registered head office in Attawapiskat and the branch office in Markham. The firm was formed in August 2006 and qualifies as an Attawapiskat Aboriginal Business. The joint venture partners provide employees to NNS to execute work on a project specific contract basis.

Stantec is a publicly traded Corporation listed on the TSX and NYSE and offering environmental sciences and engineering design, geotechnical and materials engineering, planning and risk management services for infrastructure, industrial, urban planning, natural resources and environmental projects. We are committed to capacity building in Aboriginal Joint Ventures as an investment in growing our business through engaging aboriginal partners to provide services in Canada’s north. As a partner of NNS LP, Stantec is committed to providing training programs to our First Nation and Aboriginal colleagues in various environmental areas such as environmental site assessments, environmental monitoring and sampling, mould assessments and remediation technology.

ADC is wholly owned by Attawapiskat FN and is responsible for the Attawapiskat community development. Their responsibilities include the establishment of aboriginal joint ventures to foster development and community employment including construction projects. ADC has full time and seconded part-time staff depending on the projects to be addressed. Staff are used from the Band Administration and Technical Services as required.

NNS LP is also recognized as an Attawapiskat Business pursuant to the terms of the IBA between AttFN and De Beers Canada for environmental work at the Victor Diamond Mine site.

ADC Inc has about 20 First nation employees based in Attawapiskat Ontario. Stantec has over 11,000 employees based principally in Canada and the US. Stantec is the Managing Partner of NNS LP and operates and manages all projects executed by NNS LP. Both ADC Inc. and Stantec second staff to projects carried out by NNS LP. First nation contractor and supliers are utilized to the maximum extent possible for all projects.
