My name is Mike Cumberland.
I work as a freelance performer and composer and teacher. I have been working and training at my craft for more than 30 years in order to survive.
As a creator of music and a writer, I believe the Government must enact the Copyright laws that ensure copyright is properly protected and fairly compensated to creators.
Protection of copyright is important for artists and businesses, and benefits all Canadians and the Canadian economy.
Let it also be known that without creative thinkers and the protection of their ideas, our country will fall behind in the internationally economy. We need to protect original thinkers, whatever their capacity for orignality may be, to solve the problems 20–30 years down the road that no one will be able to foresee.
When you don't protect the countries original thinkers you have already sold the country to the lowest bidder.
Sincerely,
Mike Cumberland, Ph.D.(c)
