One thing I would like to see changed is the ability to register a collective body of work as if it were one work. Currently that doesn't seem to be available under the Canadian system, so it makes registering individual pieces cost prohibitive for a large body of work.
I would like to see clear reasons to register copyright. What benefits does registration offer, if copy right is automatically assigned to the author?
I would also like to see a fund set up so that artists and authors have access to it, to pursue copy right infringement either in this country or another. Right now, most would find it daunting to say the least, to hire a lawyer and go after someone who had stolen either in whole or part or has created a derivative. The ability to access this fund would be from those who have registered a copyright.
How does the current system affect me? All of the above.
