As a Canadian citizen, I am concerned that our culture is being bought wholesale by foreign interests through bodies such as the CRIA that are calling for stricter copyright laws and digital rights restrictions. Stricter copyright laws come at the expense of our shared culture, and we Canadians have more rights to our culture than businesses do to their outdated business models. I am strongly against amending Canadian copyright law to favour stricter penalties and restricting use. I have so far been pleased that we have not followed the United States in selling the right to participate in our culture to content distributors; please keep our copyright laws reasonable and serving the Canadian people, not foreign businesses.
