One of the more popular and effective recent tax credits was for home improvement. I would suggest that a similar tax credit could be considered for new computer equipment. This would be aimed at both stimulating the ecconomy while providing an incentive for creating or improving digital skills. Something in the order of a 15% tax credit for one time purchase of new computer equipment up to $2,200 max and a miniimum of $200 in tax year 2011. If the provincial/territorial government also wanted to provide something similar, so much the better. An alternative would be to make computers tax exempt. I would love to have a way of covering the wide band connection fee but nothing comes to mind.
