Environmental, biological, physical chemistry and other science computer simulation models and related grid supercomputer access online for schools, so students can learn advanced PhD level science even when expensive laboratory equipment is not available in their school. See also the book "Outliers" which illuminates the value of early access to resources.

With the price of computing today, and access to open source supercomputer middleware, it is within the reach of high school computer programs to build a small compute cluster. With such a system, some open source simulators could be run. This type of experimentation would be interesting and a good first step for students before sending simulator jobs to a university supercomputer batch queue.
