Dear Canadian Participants,

I very much look forward to welcoming you to London this summer for the 2012 Farnborough International Airshow. This is an exciting year for the United Kingdom as it prepares to host the Diamond Jubilee celebrations and the London 2012 Olympic Games. My hope is that the Farnborough International Airshow can capitalize on the energy of these events and produce one of the most successful shows to date.

Industry Canada, in collaboration with the Aerospace Industries Association of Canada (AIAC), the Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade (DFAIT) and key partners, are once again developing an extensive program available to all Canadian companies participating in the show. I encourage you to take full advantage of the numerous opportunities for networking and business partnering that will be available.

I look forward to meeting you at the Welcome Reception on July 8th and the Canada Reception on July 9th. In particular I hope you will have the time to meet the Trade Commissioners from many markets around the world who will be available to offer their services, including business matchmaking and market intelligence. In addition, the Trade Commissioner Service in London will be leading a workshop on Friday July 6th aimed at Canadian companies interested in technology partnering entitled Innovation in UK Aerospace - Opportunities for Partnering.

For further details regarding initiatives being planned (e.g. July 6th innovation workshop, July 8th matchmaking workshop, speaker series), please register on Industry Canada's website www.ic.gc.ca/FIAS.

I hope that your participation in the Farnborough International Airshow 2012 will be productive and successful. My team at the High Commission would be pleased to follow-up with you after the show to provide further assistance towards reaching your goals in the UK market or facilitating your success elsewhere.

Yours sincerely,

Gordon Campbell
High Commissioner to the United Kingdom
