Farnborough International Airshow
The Farnborough International Airshow (FIA) is the largest aerospace trade event in 2012. This event alternates with the Paris Air Show which is held in odd years. FIA will take place from July 9 to 15, 2012, in Farnborough, United Kingdom. FIA 2012 is a key opportunity to promote the Canadian aerospace industry. At the last FIA in 2010, there were 1,500 exhibitors from 44 countries and over 120,000 business visitors in attendance. At last year's Paris Air Show, there were 132 aerospace and defence companies from Canada present along with representatives from 11 industry associations. It is anticipated that well over 130 Canadian companies will attend this year's FIA.
Working collaboratively with the Aerospace Industries Association of Canada, Industry Canada leads the organization of the Canadian presence at the FIA. The Department's involvement consists of leading a series of initiatives, including: the organization of the Showcase portion of the Canadian Pavilion, the Canada Chalet, a welcoming reception, a speaker series, networking events, a market information program, a Minister's program and support for the Canada reception.
