Health Canada: Centre for Vaccine Evaluation (CVE) Research Laboratories

The aim of the Centre for Vaccine Evaluation’s (CVE’s) Research Divisions is to provide an understanding of the most recent scientific advances and issues to assist in regulatory decision making and stewardship. The Centre provides this expertise in order to achieve one of the Biologics and Genetic Therapies Directorate's (BGTD’s) primary objectives: to maximize the quality, safety, and efficacy of biologics such as vaccines, hormones, cytokines, enzymes, monoclonal antibodies, and stem cell therapies.

CVE’s Research Divisions develop and maintain excellence via participation in internationally recognized and peer reviewed research, academic collaborations, international collaborations and joint research projects, and by building partnerships with other research and regulatory organizations in Canada and abroad.

CVE's research capacity includes a synergistic and multidisciplinary team, capable of addressing pertinent scientific issues, such as:

  • Quality assessment methods for biologics
  • Adverse events associated with biologics
  • Shelf-life and stability of biologics
  • Subsequent Entry (generic) Biologics
  • Stem cell therapies
  • Nano-scale drug delivery systems
