Government of Canada Congratulates TELUS on Philanthropic Award

OTTAWA, January 26, 2010 — The Honourable Tony Clement, Minister of Industry, on behalf of the Government of Canada, congratulated TELUS Corporation on being awarded the 2010 Freeman Philanthropic Services Award for Outstanding Corporation by the Association of Fundraising Professionals and made the following statement:

“I would like to congratulate TELUS on being named the most philanthropic corporation by the Association of Fundraising Professionals. TELUS is the first Canadian company to receive this award.

“Many organizations and charitable foundations across the country benefit from TELUS’s active partnerships with communities and charitable organizations. I was impressed with the number and range of approaches that TELUS has implemented to achieve merit this award. I hope that other Canadian companies might learn from, and emulate, these innovative methods. This award represents the great spirit that drives Canadian business forward and is an example for the whole world to follow.”
