Minister Clement Welcomes the News that Honda is Expanding Production in Alliston
OTTAWA, March 30, 2010 — Today, the Honourable Tony Clement, Minister of Industry, issued the following statement welcoming the news that Honda of Canada Manufacturing is expanding production volume at its plant in Alliston, Ontario:
“The Government of Canada welcomes the news of Honda’s additional investment in Alliston. This is a great day for Alliston and a great day for the Canadian automotive industry. Honda will create more than 400 new jobs, which further signals that the recovery of the automotive industry is indeed gaining momentum.
“This latest investment is a testament to Honda’s commitment to Canada. I am proud to say that, right here in Canada, in Alliston, we are witness to a successful and thriving partnership of skilled and knowledgeable workers with a company whose leadership and commitment to the community is exemplary. Honda has been an integral factor in the growth and prosperity of this region.”
Honda of Canada Manufacturing announced today that it plans to add a second production shift to its state-of-the-art Plant 2 facility in early 2011, which is expected to increase the daily output from 400 to 600 units per day, allowing the company to create more than 400 new positions.
