Governments of Canada, Saskatchewan and Humboldt Deliver New BizPaL Service New Online Business Permit and Licence Service Saves Time, Cuts Paperwork and Helps Entrepreneurs
Humboldt, Saskatchewan, July 23, 2010 — Starting and running a business in the City of Humboldt just became easier thanks to BizPaL, a new online business permit and licence service that saves time spent on paperwork and helps entrepreneurs start up faster.
Today, Brad Trost, Member of Parliament for Saskatoon–Humboldt, on behalf of the Honourable Rob Moore, Minister of State (Small Business and Tourism), together with Chris Dekker, Chief Executive Officer of Enterprise Saskatchewan, and Humboldt City Councillor Philip Smith, welcomed the launch of BizPaL in Humboldt.
BizPaL is an innovative service that provides entrepreneurs with simplified access to information on the permits and licences they need to establish and run their businesses. This unique partnership among federal, provincial, territorial and municipal governments is designed to cut through the paperwork burden and red tape that small business owners encounter. The BizPaL service in Humboldt was developed by the City of Humboldt, the Province of Saskatchewan and the Government of Canada.
"Through Budget 2010, our government is demonstrating a strong commitment to small and medium-sized businesses by improving access to financing, reducing taxes and cutting the red tape that businesses face every day," said Mr. Trost. "BizPaL is a great example of our government’s hard work to support Canadian businesses as they innovate, create jobs and generate wealth in our communities."
"There are many thriving small and medium-sized businesses in Saskatchewan that contribute a great deal to our economic success," said the Honourable Jeremy Harrison, Saskatchewan Minister of Enterprise. "BizPaL will be a valuable asset to Humboldt and area and will allow business owners to spend more time running their businesses and less time on red‑tape issues."
"The City of Humboldt prides itself on being entrepreneur friendly and BizPaL is a great innovative resource to help continue to make that possible," said Malcolm Eaton, Mayor of Humboldt. "BizPaL is a one-stop shop for all entrepreneurs in Humboldt; a service to assist them in getting their businesses up and running. We are thrilled to launch this online service for our business community and look forward to having BizPaL be a part of the future growth in our community."
Area business owners and entrepreneurs can access the service by visiting the Humboldt–Saskatchewan or Government of Saskatchewan websites. The province is looking forward to expanding BizPaL to other areas of Saskatchewan over the next year.
