Minister of Industry Promotes Collaboration with the Americas and Touts Canada as a Prime Investment Destination

Atlanta, Georgia, November 16, 2010 — Today, the Honourable Tony Clement, Minister of Industry, concluded two days at the Americas Competitiveness Forum — one of the premiere forums for business and government leaders from the Americas to debate and discuss some of the challenges in the Western Hemisphere.

"In this time of economic recovery, our government remains committed to our policy of promoting a freer flow of capital, ideas and people between Canada and our hemispheric partners," said Minister Clement. "Impressive economic development is taking place in the Americas, and Canada has much to offer businesses looking to invest. We know from experience that freer trade helps create prosperity for all."

During his participation at the forum, Minister Clement met with a number of key business and political leaders from the Americas, including U.S. Secretary of Commerce Gary Locke and Mexican Secretary of Economy Bruno Ferrari Garcia de Alba. Minister Clement delivered an address to Canadian and American business leaders at an Invest in Canada breakfast seminar hosted by the Consul General of Canada in Atlanta and Foreign Affairs and International Trade Canada. The Minister also opened the Presidential Plenary session of the forum, which was attended by presidents and vice-presidents from countries across the Americas.
