Minister Clement Issues Statement on Digital Economy Round Table in Waterloo

Waterloo, Ontario, February 25, 2011 — After meeting with representatives of the information and communication technologies (ICT) industry in Waterloo today, the Honourable Tony Clement, Minister of Industry, made the following statement:

"I would like to express my thanks to the ICT sector in Waterloo for sharing its insight and enthusiasm with me today. Conversations such as these help affirm that our government is on the right track as we move toward releasing Canada's first digital economy strategy.

"The Harper government has a clear vision of what Canada can achieve by promoting the smart use of digital technology for businesses, communities and individuals. We recognize the importance of the ICT sector to Canada's economic well-being, today and in the future."
