Robert Warren Appointed Member of National Research Council Canada
Ottawa, March 9, 2011—The Honourable Tony Clement, Minister of Industry and Minister responsible for National Research Council Canada (NRC), today announced the appointment of Robert Warren to the Council.
"Mr. Warren is a transformational leader who is exceptionally motivating, supportive and trusted," said Minister Clement. "He will undoubtedly be an important addition to the overall work and success of the NRC."
Mr. Warren has served as the Executive Director of the University of Manitoba's Stu Clark Centre for Entrepreneurship since its inception in 1997. He has extensive experience designing and managing outreach programs for both the university and broader communities. He holds a B.Com. (Hons.) from the University of Manitoba and an M.B.A. from Syracuse University. He led the launch of three entrepreneurial competitions hosted by the University of Manitoba, including the Stuart Clark Venture Challenge, and also organizes and manages the annual Arni Thorsteinson Manitoba–Israel Exchange program.
Mr. Warren was a founder of the Winnipeg Angel Organization, a non-profit organization that helps small business start-ups access financing, and speaks internationally on youth entrepreneurship and angel capital. In 2005, he was awarded an Honorary CMA for his work with local and national organizations.
