June 15, 2011

On June 15, 2011, the Honourable Maxime Bernier, Minister of State (Small Business and Tourism) was on hand at the Vancouver International Airport to greet China Southern Airlines' first flight from Guangzhou. This is Canada's first non-stop flight from Guangdong, China's most populous province. Having Approved Destination Status allows Canada to share our unique travel experiences with China. This announcement benefits Canadians by providing greater choices for travel between both countries and given the size of the Guangzhou market, this will have a significant economic impact for tourism and other businesses in Canada.
