From November 5 to 9, the Honourable Gary Goodyear, Minister of State (Science and Technology), visited Berlin, where he participated in the 26th annual German–Canadian Conference. The Minister of State also met with senior German government officials, as well as science and technology leaders, to discuss Canadian–German collaboration between universities and businesses to support innovation.

In a keynote address delivered to conference delegates, Minister of State Goodyear underscored the 40th anniversary of the Canada–Germany Science and Technology Cooperation Agreement, which has resulted in over 500 joint research projects between the two countries. He encouraged further cooperation in science and technology, the strengthening of existing business relationships, and the enhancement of Germany–Canada bilateral trade.
