Sustainability and Corporate Social Responsibility

Sustainability and corporate social responsibility are important to doing business in Canada and around the world. Industry Canada plays an important role in promoting and facilitating sustainable and responsible practices.

The Strategic Policy Sector (SPS) manages the Department's initiatives in the following areas:

• Sustainable Development
• Corporate Social Responsibility
• Eco-efficiency

The Strategic Policy Branch leads Industry Canada-wide initiatives of a horizontal nature, including those related to sustainability, eco-efficiency and corporate social responsibility.

The Branch also provides guidance on and assures the implentation of the Strategic Environmental Assessment process for assessing the environmental effects of proposed policies, plans and programs.
