Project Description

This project involves construction of a 300,000 square foot building for the Centre for Engineering Innovation. The new facility includes a manufacturing courtyard equipped with modern, environmentally sustainable classrooms, labs and office space. Additional space includes an interactive auditorium, strategic skills investment program laboratories, envirolabs, a createauto studio, industrilabs, electrolabs and a learning commons. The building is designed to meet Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Gold certification.

Primary Areas of Benefit

  1. Expands or enhances utility of research and development space: The new facility houses more than 150 researchers and focuses on research and development. It includes a manufacturing courtyard.
  2. Expands or enhances utility of training space: This project enables the institution to accommodate an additional 400 students, 25 faculty and staff, and 15 ancillary positions. New classrooms and laboratories enhance training space at the University of Windsor.
  3. Improves energy efficiency: The facility is designed to utilize the latest environmental materials, appliances and technologies in its construction to meet LEED Gold certification, resulting in improved energy efficiency and fewer greenhouse gas emissions.
