Project Description

This project involves construction of a 10,000 square foot permanent satellite campus. The new two-storey building includes a health science lab, a multi-purpose trades shop that accommodates electrical, marine and small engine training, an E-lab with 30–35 computers, two classrooms, two computer labs, a learning resource centre, a special needs facility and offices. The building is designed to meet Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Silver certification.

Primary Areas of Benefit

  1. Expands or enhances utility of training space: The new campus doubles the level of post-secondary education in the Parry Sound area and significantly expands programs offered in Skilled Trades, Health Sciences and Hospitality/Tourism. The new campus supports increased recruiting of under-represented groups such as Aboriginals, mature students and those with disabilities.
  2. Improves energy efficiency: The facility is designed to utilize the latest environmental materials, appliances and technologies in its construction to meet LEED Silver certification, resulting in improved energy efficiency and fewer greenhouse gas emissions.
