Project Description
This project involves retrofitting and upgrading two greenhouses and constructing a new modular-style greenhouse. The retrofit and upgrades consist of new concrete floors, thermal curtains, and an upgraded heating system. The new greenhouse is constructed with a glass roof, twinned polycarbonate walls, concrete floors, energy-efficient heating and ventilation, aluminum benching and thermal curtains.
Primary Areas of Benefit
- Expands or enhances utility of research and development space: Renewal and expansion of greenhouse facilities provide leading-edge technology to enhance research capacity for design and technology graduates. Renovations yield a 33 percent increase in the number of research projects and enhance the quality of research.
- Expands or enhances utility of training space: Upgraded facilities enhance the educational environment for students and expose them to cutting-edge research and development activities.
- Improves energy efficiency: The retrofit and upgrades improve energy efficiency of the facilities by 30 percent. The new greenhouse uses the latest energy-efficient technologies and heating and ventilation systems.
