Project: Construction of facilities at Pelly Crossing Campus

Total Project Cost:
$2,300,000
Total KIP Funding:
$700,000

Status of Project: Substantially completed

Project Description

This project involves the construction of a 2,500 square foot building housing three classrooms, a computer lab for 10 units, a mobile science lab that can be moved among classrooms and video conferencing equipment that enables distance education. The new building replaces the mobile trailer used by the college.

Primary Areas of Benefit

  1. Expands or enhances utility of training space: The new facility enhances training space at the College to be used during the day by full and part time students, as well as in the evenings and weekends for credit courses, distance courses, continuing education courses, industry sector training, computer access programs, and community outreach, in particular to the Selkirk First Nation. The facility permits the college to offer courses and training opportunities that will address skill shortages most notably in resource management and trades.
  2. Upgrades the health and safety aspects of facilities: The new building which replaced a mobile trailer provides a safer and healthier environment for students, faculty and staff.
