Project Description
This project involves relocating Brandon University’s information technology server room within the Brodie building to protect it from flooding and to incorporate a more efficient and effective cooling system design to ensure 100 percent reliability. Renovations include installing new drains, a new roof with an opening for a mechanical hood and new metal wall cladding.
Primary Areas of Benefit
- Expands or enhances utility of research and development space: The new server space ensures continuity of service and reduces the chance of catastrophic failure affecting all academic and administrative systems on campus.
- Expands or enhances utility of training space: Relocating the server room and incorporating a new cooling system improve the servers’ performance for 200 professors and professional librarians, 200 administrative and student service staff, and 3,000 students. The systems are used for research, teaching, administrative tasks, student services and communication.
- Upgrades the health and safety aspects of facilities: The move to a higher location protects the equipment from potential flooding.
