Project Description

This project involves construction of a 234,000 square foot building to house the Ivey School of Business. The building is constructed with stone and glass to remain consistent with the architecture of the university campus. The new facility includes a 640-seat auditorium, a library, a student and staff lounge and terrace, a reception/welcome area, the Dean’s Suite boardroom, conference rooms, approximately 70 breakout classrooms and reading rooms. This facility is designed to meet Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Gold certification.

Primary Areas of Benefit

  1. Expands or enhances utility of research and development space: The new building provides graduate students and professors with improved office space and research facilities. The Ivey School of Business allows for expansion of the institution’s graduate program and leading-edge research in areas such as sustainability, innovation and entrepreneurship, and emerging markets, which are vital concerns to today’s businesses.
  2. Expands or enhances utility of training space: Over the next three years, the Ivey School of Business Master of Business Administration program is predicted to expand by 50 percent. The new building enables the institution to meet this new demand for its world-renowned undergraduate, graduate and executive development programs. The Richard Ivey School of Business is the oldest business school in Canada and has an international reputation for producing highly qualified business executives and entrepreneurs.
  3. Improves energy efficiency: The facility is constructed with the latest environmental materials/technologies and is designed to meet LEED Gold certification, resulting in improved energy efficiency and fewer greenhouse gas emissions.
