Project Description

This project involves renovating the Saskatchewan Indian Institute of Technologies campus to enable training assessment, delivery and support to remote Aboriginal communities and various upgrades and renovations to the buildings. The project includes a significant investment in distance learning equipment, processes and systems to reach regions of the province that are difficult to access. Additional building renovations include repositioning building columns; replacing doors, windows and the heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) system; installing movable walls, fire sprinklers, acoustic treatments and sound masking; and upgrading temperature control and plumbing systems.

Primary Areas of Benefit

  1. Expands or enhances utility of training space: Installing distance learning systems enables SIIT to reach communities in northern Saskatchewan. In addition, renovating the campus improves facilities, which enhances retention rates within the SIIT training system.
  2. Improves energy efficiency: Installing new doors, windows and an HVAC system and upgrading temperature control and plumbing systems improve the energy efficiency of the facility.
  3. Upgrades health and safety aspects of facilities: Renovated and upgraded fire sprinklers improve safety at the facility.
