Project Description

This project involves renovating 9,574 square metres of vacant space on 11 floors in order to create an industry innovation and incubation centre. The location requires major construction work, and all the existing mechanical, plumbing and electrical systems must be replaced with new systems in compliance with today’s standards. The floors have to be refitted and closed off in several places. Finally, the stairs, elevators, windows and insulation in the building envelope need to be replaced. The project is designed to meet the requirements of Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design Gold certification.

Primary Areas of Benefit

  1. Develops incubation facilities for industry and research: This project provides internal and external researchers with a modern building equipped with high-tech tools and equipment. It improves ties between the school and its industrial partners as well as brings the various partners working in innovation and technology marketing closer together.
  2. Expands or enhances the utility of Research and Development space: The project puts in place a physical environment that will favour increased R&D and technology transfer. The combination of the Centre with what already exists at ETS will serve as a catalyst for further R&D.
  3. Expands or enhances the utility of training space: Once renovated the building and the interior arrangements will create a space perfectly adapted for the Centre to increase its current capacity for scientific and technological training. It is estimated that 200 professionals, active in innovative projects, could potentially be located at the Centre.
