Checklist for Submitting an Application

Please make sure your submission includes the following:

  1. Detailed project proposal. Many organizations have proposals that are already at an advanced stage and those documents can be submitted. If starting a new project, a detailed proposal typically includes:
    • Description and objectives of the project
    • Background of the project
    • Management of the project (e.g. accountability mechanisms, groups or committee(s) that will examine, review, and/or monitor the project)
    • Project schedule
    • Project cost summary and sources of funding
    • The expected benefits of the project
  2. University / College Online Summary Form completed and submitted online.
    A separate online form should be completed for each distinct project.
  3. Attestation of the online summary form signed by the Applicant's President or Chief Executive Officer.
  4. Supporting documents if not included in detailed proposal, that confirm, or indicate the expected timing to receive confirmation of:
    • Approval in principle by Governing Board
    • Engineering Design and Regulatory Approvals
    • Other sources of funding confirmed in writing
    • Assessment in accordance with the Canadian Environmental Assessment Agency (CEAA)
    • Province/Territory or institution confirms project as a priority
    • Details, as needed, regarding Aboriginal consultations
    For any items that are indicated as Not Applicable, the rationale explaining why it is not applicable should be substantiated in writing with supporting documents as needed.
  5. Supporting documents where possible, that enumerate and explain the potential benefits of the project in greater detail than possible on the online summary form:
    • Economic benefits over the next two years including jobs created/maintained and economic impacts
    • Benefits to the institution over the next five years including how project will accomplish any of the following:
      • enhance research and development
      • support business incubation
      • enhance advanced training
      • improve health and safety
      • reduce emissions
  6. Two paper copies of detailed project proposal and a diskette / CD-ROM
    OR
    Six copies of the project proposal.
  7. Submit proposal and all documents to:
