On August 17, 2011, after extensive renovations, the park at the heart of Wellington West Village in Ottawa officially welcomed the community back onto its grounds.

Park visitors can now enjoy performances on the newly constructed outdoor stage, and kids can splash in the revamped wading pool on those hot summer days. They can also keep themselves busy in the gated playground, while their parents take refuge from the sun under a new shade canopy.

The new park and playground will undoubtedly draw a number of community members outside. Parkdale is not just about promoting recreation and active living it's also about great food, and the upgraded Fieldhouse will now provide a gateway to the Parkdale Market. For the convenience of park visitors, the Fieldhouse also includes new public washrooms.

The governments of Canada and Ontario have each contributed up to $396,000 to this $1.2 million project, while the City of Ottawa funded the balance of the costs. The completion of this important community project will surely result in countless memories of swings, slides and walks visitors will cherish throughout the years.
