Provincial Signage Guidelines

This guide applies to all new signs related to infrastructure projects funded by the Government of Ontario, unless covered by another agreement such as the Canada Ontario Municipal Rural Infrastructure Fund (COMRIF) or the Canada Ontario Infrastructure Plan (COIP).

  • Ensure the sign is properly installed in a prominent area and that it does not obstruct traffic or cause safety concerns, particularly if it will be located near a road. To avoid potential safety issues, ensure that the appropriate provincial and municipal authorities are consulted.
  • Consistency is important. All signs must use the design and directions set out in this guide.
  • The vector based digital artwork supplied (.ai files) for the signs should be used. This format can be scaled without distortion. Do not alter the proportional size of any element of the sign.
  • When updating the project category of the sign, do not change the proportional size of the type (lettering) on any part of the sign.
  • Please keep the sign installed for 90 days after project completion.

  • The choice of a sign size should reflect the size and cost of its associated project.
  • The template provided is vector based digital artwork which can be scaled to any size without distortion.
