Industry Canada recently announced the release of a consultation paper on proposals to amend the Canada Business Corporations Act (CBCA) in order to strengthen corporate governance standards. Some of the amendments proposed pertain to the role and composition of boards, auditor oversight and independence, and financial reporting and offences.
Enclosed you will find a copy of the news release announcing the publication of the consultation paper. The Corporate governance proposals paper is available online. If you would like to submit comments on the proposed amendments, please send them to Industry Canada at Corporate Governance.
