Criteria for complaints to be considered by Corporations Canada

Policy Statement 11.20
June 13, 2005

In order for a complaint concerning an alleged contravention of the Canada Business Corporations Act, the Canada Corporations Act – Part II or the Canada Cooperatives Act to be considered by Corporations Canada, it must meet the following criteria:

  • it must be in writing;
  • it must be addressed to the administrator of the acts, the Director General, Corporations Canada, at the address set out below (please note that any complaints sent to the Minister or Deputy Minister of Industry Canada will be forwarded to the Director General, Corporations Canada in accordance with this Policy); and
  • it must contain sufficient information to substantiate the complaint (including, but not limited to the name and address of the complainant, the name of the corporation and specific details of the alleged contravention).
