Harmonized Sales Tax (HST) for Ontario and British Columbia

The provinces of Ontario and British Columbia are joining the harmonized sales tax (HST) framework. Beginning July 1, 2010, existing provincial sales taxes in those provinces will be combined with the federal goods and services tax to create the HST, which will be administered by the Canada Revenue Agency.

Nova Scotia HST rate increase

As of July 1, 2010, the HST rate in Nova Scotia will increase from 13% to 15% (5% federal part and 10% provincial part).
