Corporate, insolvency and competition law policy

The Corporate, Insolvency and Competition Policy Directorate (CIC) is responsible for the legislative policy development and review of a number of Canada's business framework laws and regulations in the corporate, insolvency, and competition policy areas. These include the following statutes and the regulations made under them:


The CIC carries out its mandate by

  • conducting policy analysis;
  • monitoring domestic and international developments;
  • undertaking research; consulting with stakeholders;
  • supporting the legislative process;
  • working to enhance public and stakeholder understanding; and,
  • participating in international discussions and negotiations in its areas of responsibility.
