Payment methods we accept
You must pay all fees to the Canadian Intellectual Property Office (CIPO) in Canadian dollars. We do not accept foreign currencies.
Ways to pay
Please note that no in person payment transactions are processed at CIPO's designated establishment locations. In person payment transactions are only processed at the CIPO headquarters location.
CIPO accepts the following types of payment:

Debit cards
Payments using debit card are accepted only at CIPO's headquarters, located at 50 Victoria Street, Place du Portage I, Room C229 in Gatineau, Quebec.

Credit cards
You may make credit card payments online, by mail, by fax or in person.
We take Visa, MasterCard and American Express credit cards only.
Note that there is a limit of $99,999 or 2000 files per online credit card transaction.
The summary report is available online.
To see your statements online, you must contact CIPO's Finance, Integrated Planning and Administration in writing and link your credit cards to the people in your firm who are authorized to work with ISED. Please include the name of your firm, your credit card numbers, and your ISED username.

You can make deposit account payments online, by fax, by mail or in person.
Opening a deposit account
To open a deposit account, please complete and send us the deposit account form.
Using your deposit account
To add an authorized user to your deposit account:
- Contact CIPO's Finance, Integrated Planning and Administration in writing.
- Include the name of your firm, deposit account numbers, and the ISED user name for the individual for whom access is requested.
- Send your request to CIPO by:

You can replenish your deposit account using debit cards, through an online banking service, by cheque/money order or by wire transfer.
To replenish your account, fill out the fee payment form and send it to CIPO with your payment by:

Deposit account statements
The summary report of deposit account statements is available online.
To see your online statements, you must contact CIPO's Finance, Integrated Planning and Administrationn writing and link your deposit accounts to the people in your firm who are authorized to work with ISED. Please include the name of your firm, your deposit accounts numbers, and your ISED username.

Closing your deposit account
To close your deposit account, please complete and send the close a deposit account form.

Online banking service
CIPO's deposit account holders can replenish their accounts through their Canadian bank's online system.
To open a CIPO deposit account, follow the instructions above under “Deposit accounts”.
Please follow these instructions to replenish your account using online banking:
- Log into your online banking account.
- Add CIPO as a recipient in the bill payment section. Footnote 1
- Enter CIPO's 10-digit online banking number, which you can find on the
online statements page of CIPO's website under "On-Line Banking Ref. No." column. Footnote 2 - Transfer an amount of money to replenish your CIPO deposit account.

To create an account, retrieve a lost or forgotten username or password or update your ISED account, visit My ISED Account. Then please contact CIPO'S Finance, Integrated Planning and Administration to link your ISED username to your online deposit account statement. Your request must include your firm's name, deposit account number and ISED username.

Cheques/money orders
All cheques and money orders must be in Canadian dollars and made payable to the Receiver General for Canada.

Wire transfer
Important information: All electronic funds transfers must be made through the Fédération des caisses Desjardins du Québec in Canadian dollars and be made payable to the Receiver General for Canada.

Please note that documents, payments and payment instructions delivered in person in the designated establishment locations must be enclosed in a sealed envelope. No in person payment transactions are processed at designated establishment locations. In person payment transactions are only processed at the CIPO headquarters location.
