Description:
In May 2001, the Federal, Provincial and Territorial Ministers responsible for consumer affairs endorsed the Internet Sales Contract Harmonization Template and announced their intention to implement it within their respective jurisdictions. Ministers agreed, however, that there was a need for further discussion of the particularly difficult issues of applicable law and forum in the resolution of cross-border disputes in electronic commerce.
The ULCC (Uniform Law Conference of Canada) established a working group to examine legislative options for addressing Internet jurisdictional issues and to work with the CMC in addressing these issues in relation to consumer matters.
