Subject: Comments on proposed copyright bill
To the Intellectual Property Policy Directorate:I think it's a good idea to update copyright law to keep up with the times, but I must also caution that we should not make the same mistakes the USA did with the DMCA (doubtless it's this act of theirs the new proposed copyright laws are mimicking, since they are so similar).
Any new laws should not violate the rights of the people of Canada. It would be wrong and should not be tolerated, let alone even considered. I'm confident that my government will find a way to protect copyright without destroying the freedoms the people of this country have had to fight so hard to gain.
