Subject: DMCA
To: Concerned Agencies:I write to communicate my severe concern regarding the provisions of the Consultation Paper on Digital Copyright Issues (CPCDI).
If the US Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA) does go through with this act, it will give far too much power to publishers, which in turn further taking away the individual rights and freedoms. The DMCA itself is already having problems in the US, why then bring it up to Canada. Canada is not a state of American and should not be controlled largely by American corporate copyright interests (Labels).
The DMCA policies violate the Charter of Rights and Freedoms guarantee of freedom of speech, and which is also guarantees by the UN in the UN Universal Declaration of Human Rights.
As Canadian citizen I urge you to remove this notorious and anti-freedom provisions from the CPDCI language. The DMCA defectiveness should not be imposed on Canadians.
