Subject: The CPCDI
To whom it may concern:
I am a Software Engineer in the US writing to you out of concern regarding the intellectual property provisions of the CPCDI. The DMCA, which it is based on, has caused citiznes of the US and other friendly countries nothing but anguish. This is not some merely ideological debate, there are people in prison merely because corporations want them there and the US is silently being reduced to a police state.
Recent events in the US have many people considering citizenship elsewhere. Canada has always seemed a viable option, and the Canadian government seems to hold true to the goals of peace, order and good government. However, if Canada follows in the footsteps of the US, then its government is suddenly no better.
Please remember that as a government, your first responsibility is to your citizens, not to corporations. If you allow the DMCA to work its way into your system, then you are denying that most important responsibility.
Sincerely,
Ryan O'Neil
