Subject: Canadian copyright reform

I am writing to express concern regarding the Consultation Paper on Digital Copyright Issues (CPCDI).

These measures, far too similar to the DMCA Act passed in the States, goes too far in oppressing a persons individual freedoms. It gives power to corporations who are already very loosely controlled by any sort of legislation.

As a governmnet it is your responsibility to protect your citizens, not corporations who only have their own welfare and bottom line in mind.

I will be personally outraged and protest any such legislation, as I'm sure will many other canadian citizens. Freedom of thought, speech and expression must be protected. People who have no technilogical understanding cannot be left to make narrow minded decisions about our technological rights.

Let us learn from the mistakes made by the US, and let's be much smarter about this and adjust and adapt to new technology instead of fighting it at all costs and at the behest of rich multinationals.

Sincerely,

Jeff Mitchell
