Subject: the medium is not the message

Please do not mess with copyright law in response to new mediums. A uniform copyright law should apply equally to all mediums, print or electronic. Content in electronic form should not have blocks in place which impair fair use provisions. The United States has begun a journey down the slippery slope where fair use is diminished in favour of protections granted to large corporations. In Canada we need to maintain the spirit of copyright law as a balance between protecting intellectual property while not impairing citizens access and fair use of information and ideas. This is what copyright law does now. Don't mess with it. Don't create different standards for different mediums. The medium in not the message, and the message should be equally available regardless of medium.
