The Departments of Industry and Canadian Heritage wish to advise interested parties of the February 5, 2005 publication, in Part I of the Canada Gazette, of proposed amendments to the Definition of Small Retransmission Systems Regulations (SOR/89-255) and the Definition of “Small Cable Transmission System” Regulations (SOR/94-755) made pursuant to the Copyright Act.

The publication in Part I of the Canada Gazette of the proposed changes to the Regulations follows a call for comments regarding these changes, which was issued in May 2004.

Stakeholders are invited to provide comments until March 8, 2005.

Once comments have been received and taken into account, the proposed amendments could proceed to publication in Part II of the Canada Gazette. Part II publication would give the regulatory amendments the force of law, as of the day specified in the amendments.

The Canada Gazette can be consulted electronically at http://canadagazette.gc.ca/index-e.html.
