Tutorial 4: Modifying a loan registration

Female host on camera:

Welcome to the last of four tutorials on the Canada Small Business Financing Program's Online Loan Registration Application. This tutorial explains a few of the main features of the Online Loan Registration Application. You can search for and modify a registration—both the basic information you submitted and the dollar amounts. We'll also review how to withdraw and deregister a loan.

(cut to Online Loan Registration Application home page)

Female host voiceover:

Let's start with searching. You can search for a loan using a number of search criteria.

(mouse clicks on Search link – cut to Search registrations page)

You can enter the loan registration number or your loan number. You can also search by the borrower's name or operating name. You can also search by more than one criteria to narrow your results. Or you can do a general query search to get broader results. For example, you can search for all registration numbers starting with 65. Your search results will include the numbers of all the loans beginning with 65.

(mouse clicks on Search button – cut to Search results page)

If you need to modify a loan that has come up in your search results, click on the registration number.

(cut to View registration page)

On the "View Registration" page, you will see several tabs: "Modify," "Modify Amounts," "Withdraw" and "Deregister." We'll go through them one at a time.

(the row of tabs are highlighted while the rest of the screen darkens)

First, here's how to modify the basic information you submitted for a registration.

Click "Modify."

(cut to Modify registration page)

(Lender, Borrower and Acknowledgement & Consent tabs are clicked in succession)

This function will allow you to change non-financial information, such as the lender loan number and the borrower address.

(screen scrolls down)

Be sure to confirm where the acknowledgement should be sent by looking under the "Acknowledgement & Consent" tab. Then, click "Save-Registered."

(cut to Registered-Awaiting Fees page)

You will get an Acknowledgement notifying that the loan was modified successfully.

(cut back to View registration page)

If you need to change financial information, click the "Modify Amounts" tab on the "View Registration" page.

To return to that screen, click "Return to registration."

(cut to Modify Amounts page)

Please note that you may only increase or decrease a loan amount within one year of the first disbursement date. First, to decrease a loan, enter the lower loan amount. Next, if your institution is financing the registration fee, reduce that amount as well. The Canada Small Business Financing Program will process your request and refund a portion of the fee. Click "Recalculate." Click "Save-Registered."

(cut to Registered-Refund Awaiting Approval page)

Follow the same steps to increase a loan amount. Again, remember that you will have to submit a fee equal to 2 percent of the additional amount of the loan.

Next, let's look at how to withdraw or deregister a loan. Which action you take depends on the status of the loan application.

Female host voiceover:

When you have saved the application as "Saved-Pending," you may withdraw it for whatever reason. To do this, go to the search tab on the main application screen

(cut to Search Registrations page)

and enter criteria to bring up the pending registration you wish to withdraw.

(cut to Search results page)

Select the loan by clicking on the registration number.

(cut to View registration page)

Then, click the "Withdraw" tab.

(cut to Withdraw registration page)

Use the drop down to Select the reason to withdraw the application.

Click "Withdraw."

(cut to a highlighted yes/no to Withdraw pop-up box)

(cut to Withdrawn status page)

The loan will be permanently withdrawn.

Female host on camera:

Finally, here is how to deregister a loan.

You would do this when you have registered and paid the registration fee for a loan but it turns out that it is ineligible under the CSBFP guidelines.

Female host voiceover:

Go to the search tab on the main application screen

(cut to Search registrations page)

and enter criteria to bring up the loan to be deregistered.

(cut to Search results page)

Select the loan by clicking on the registration number.

(cut to View registration page)

Click on the "Deregister" tab.

(cut to Deregister registration page)

This will set all the loan amounts to zero.

Click "Next."

(cut to next Deregister registration page)

Then, click the "Refund Reason." Complete the "Attention" box. Then click "Deregister" to permanently deregister the loan.

(cut to highlighted yes/no to Deregister pop-up box)

The Canada Small Business Financing Program will process the request and refund the 2-percent registration fee and you will receive an acknowledgement.
